Call for papers: Thai Studies Conference 2017

Call for papers:  Thai Studies Conference 2017

The International Conference on Thai Studies (ICTS) has been held once every three years since 1981. For more than three decades, the ICTS has provided a forum for Thai and foreign scholars to present their research findings on several areas on Thai society, including culture, economy, history, gender, politics, religious and many others. The venue of the conference switches among leading universities in Thailand and many other countries where Thai studies are a major discipline.
The ICTS13 with the theme “Thai Studies: Globalized Thailand? Connectivity, Conflict, and Conundrums of Thai Studies” will be held 15-18 July 2017 at Chiang Mai University, Thailand. It will be another challenging opportunity for both young and senior scholars to meet and discuss several issues drawing on sound reasoning and well-documented evidence. As a co-organizer of the ICTS13, the Thai Khadi Research Institute, Thammasat University, will organize its own panels and would invite interested scholars to present their research papers on the following themes:-

  • Tourism and Social Change
  • Performing Arts in the Modern World
  • Buddhist Art in ASEAN

Abstract submission should be made directly to Chiang Mai University, the ICTS organizer, by 30 November 2016. Abstracts should not exceed 250 words. Notification of acceptance will be made by 31 January 2017. Information on the conference and guidelines for abstract and paper submission are available on ICTS website http://www.icts13.chiangmai.cmu.ac.th
